Digital scholar workshop reflection

Today is my last day attending the digital scholar workshop. The workshop was exactly what I expected it to be, but due to time constrains not all aspects of being a digital scholar were addressed. Never the less a spark was ignited and it is up to me to continue on utilising the skills that I have gained. During this time I have realised that it is important to take advantage of social media as a platform to communicate my work and increase my visibility, not only to academics but to the general public. Like all systems it has it strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats which have to be continuously considered and it is up to me to choose the ones that best meet my purpose.

There are a number of free and user friendly programs and applications that I can use to create a diverse online space for both my research and teaching. In keeping up with the current communication tools it is however important to stay true to myself in they application.
